Swearing In Ceremony reception and registering to vote. This is part of the official opening of Troy Daze Festival where up to 50 immigrants are sworn in to become citizens of our country. After the swearing in ceremony, we hold a reception for them and their families and then direct them to the city clerk who offers them the opportunity to register to vote.

LWVTA kickoff dinner and Town Hall. After our kickoff dinner we will hold a Town Hall with the Troy City Clerk presenting the new voter laws that came into effect last November. There will also be a presentation on the 2020 census and the new redistricting commission. This Town hall is free and open to the public.

Candidates' Night for Troy City Council and Mayor. A 2 hour candidates' night will be held for 8 city council candidates and 2 mayoral candidates. The council candidates will answer questions for 1 hr and 30 minutes while the 2 mayoral candidates are sequestered. Then they mayoral candidates will come before the audience and cameras and will answer the same questions for 30 minutes. Questions will be taken from the audience in writing on index cards and grouped according to subject. There is no charge nor are reservations needed.

General Election Day. We will use this day to vote for 3 city council members of 8 candidates and 1 mayor from the 2 candidates. There may be a ballot proposal to be determined.
